The origins of Melangerie:
A culinary journey of passion and courage
Welcome to the world of Melangerie, a place created from our shared passion for good food, delicious coffee and welcoming service. We are Elisabeth and Stephanie – a mother-daughter duo who share a love for a delicious breakfast and a perfect Viennese Melange. The idea of opening a breakfast café arose from our long-standing relationship with the hospitality industry. Elisabeth, with years of experience, ran a traditional “Beisl”, while Stephanie learnt to love the industry from an early age after graduating from tourism school. Our dream was to create a place where people could come together to enjoy delicious food and feel at home.
The decision to name our cafe “Melangerie” was an important step for us. Our favourite coffee – the Melange – once with cow’s milk, now with oat milk, symbolises the variety that characterises our café. Melange, translated from French as “mixture”, fits perfectly with our concept – a mixture of tradition, hospitality and culinary creativity.
It was a risky move to try a completely new concept. But as a mother-daughter duo, strengthened by our dedicated team, we have overcome hurdles and turned the café into a meeting place for regular guests and breakfast lovers from all over the world.
Our mission at the Melangerie is to make every guest feel at home and give them a few special moments – whether it’s a great start to the day or a little break from everyday life. We firmly believe that good hospitality and attention to detail create an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome.
