In the midst of Viennese coffee house culture
It is a special honour for us to be mentioned in a book about Viennese coffee house culture, an important part of the history of this fascinating city. The book “Die Wiener Kaffeehauskultur im Wandel der Zeit” celebrates a tradition that has been at the heart of Vienna for 335 years – the coffee houses.
Can you imagine Vienna without coffee houses? Neither can we! This book shows in a beautiful way how this old tradition is still as fresh and lively as on the first day. With over 2,200 coffee houses in Vienna, this is a true symbol of our city.
In her research for the book, editor Ursula Scheidl has explored the diversity and richness of Viennese coffee house culture and discovered the fascinating history, production and numerous ways of preparing coffee that are so typical of Vienna. The meetings with amazing people and the immersion into the world of coffee have made this book a declaration of love to Viennese coffee house culture.
